I started Boogaerts Fine Cabinetry in 1998. As a young man I had many interests and would find work that I enjoyed. I managed bicycle shops in Connecticut and Massachusetts, kept the books for restaurants, built log homes in Oregon, was a carpenter on a Buffalo Ranch near Crater Lake, and I even worked for an investment banker in Greenwich CT. None of these quite did it for me. I come from a very artistic and design oriented family and there have always been creative people around me. I have always enjoyed building but did not want to build homes or be a contractor. I started building some rustic furniture for ski lodges in Oregon and then moved back to Connecticut and got more refined. I love to watch The New Yankee Workshop on PBS and thought why not me. I got married and moved to the DC area and that is when I really got started. Slowly I built up a clientele and have been going strong. This is my 20th year and every job is still new and different. I have built all sorts of projects for a wide range of clients in a wide range of styles.
My wife and our three daughters have made a nice home here and I enjoy my small part of being a local craftsmen. My projects range in size from relatively small to whole houses of millwork and cabinetry. Most of the time they are single rooms that people would like to be transformed and made special to them.
How does the process work? If you have a project in mind call me. I will come and meet with you and look at the space. Have photos or ideas of the style you like ready and I will furnish a design and price to do the work. Then I will build the entire project in my shop on Howard Ave in Kensington, MD. You are welcome to come and see the progress. Then when it is ready for install the cabinets will be delivered and installed. Usually the installation takes a day but sometimes longer, especially for kitchens.
I require a fifty percent deposit to start and the balance to be paid when the work is complete. On larger jobs I split the payment into thirds so that I am not too extended. I am flexible with this but am also a small company.
Thank you for looking at a sample of my work and I hope to hear from you.
